Whiteoaks recognises that nutritious food and drink play an important part, not only for nourishment and dietary purposes, but also in the social aspect of the Home.
We try to provide a welcoming environment in the dining room and to ensure that meals are pleasant, unhurried occasions providing opportunities for social interaction as well as nourishment.
Three full meals are provided each day, and the daily menu is changed for lunch and tea, residents are always offered a choice including a hot or cold option, vegetarian or diabetic option, a salad option and any other dietary needs can be met according to your wishes.
Our experienced and well qualified chef caters for all special dietary requirements, including those, advised by specialist health professionals. Our care staff are available to provide discreet, individual help with eating and drinking for those requiring it.
Snacks, hot and cold drinks are available at all times. We aim to make all of the food, attractive, appealing and appetising.
Our breakfast menu includes a selection of fruits, white or wholemeal bread or toast with a choice of various jams and preserves, cereals and a pot of tea or coffee.
For lunch we offer, the soup of the day as a starter, followed by a main meat option served with the potato dish of the day and vegetables. There is always a second option as an alternative, as well as a vegetarian option, diabetic option and a salad option. Most of our desserts are home made, ranging from freshly baked apple crumble and custard to fresh fruit trifle.
The teatime meal is a lighter meal, with two options to choose from, whether it be Cheese and Ham Potato skins or Omelette with side salad, followed by a sweet treat or fruit and tea or coffee.
In addition to the three main meals, morning coffee (or tea) is served at 10.00am, afternoon tea (or coffee) is served at 2.00pm and night drinks (Horlicks, Ovaltine, Hot Chocolate, Tea or Coffee is served with a piece of malt loaf or fruit cake at 8.00pm.
Please note that hot and cold drinks are available 24 hours a day. Diabetic, gluten free and all special diets are also catered for.
We encourage residents to pursue their own individual social, cultural and leisure interests, with existing hobbies, pursuites and relationships and to exlpore new avenue and experiences within the homes.
We try to help residents to continue to enjoy a wide range of individual and group activities and interests both inside and outside the home.
We have regular and organised activities such as weekly bingo, pamper afternoons, card evenings, and exercise therapy, arts and crafts classes are held fortnightly, and cake making and icing classes are held on a monthly basis.
Other facilities include a visiting mobile library every six weeks and daily newspaper/magazine delivery as requested by each individual resident.
In addition, we have themed monthly events such as our seasonal raffle draws, Pancake Day, Halloween Party, our Annual Summer BBQ and countryside drives and ice creams on the beach in the summer.
